Description

Q. Sicinius and C. Coponius, 49 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.85 g, 5 h), mint travelling with Pompey in the East. Q.SICINIVS III VIR Diademed head of Apollo to right; below, star of six rays. Rev. C COPONIVS.PR.S.C. Club of Hercules supporting lion skin with head in profile; to left and right, arrow and bow. Babelon (Sicinia) 1. Crawford 444/1a. CRI 3. Sydenham 939. Very attractively toned and well-centered. Traces of corrosion under the toning , otherwise, about extremely fine.
From the collection of W. M. Stoecklin, Winterthur, Switzerland, acquired prior to 1981.
