Description

The Social War. Coinage of the Marsic Confederation, 90-88 BC. Denarius (Silver, 17 mm, 4.04 g, 12 h), mint moving in Campania, 88. Helmeted and draped bust of Minerva to right, wearing aegis; to left, Victory standing right, crowning Minerva. Rev. Λ Two warriors walking toward each other and clasping their right hands; the one on the left carries a long standard and the one on the right is disembarking from a galley, the forepart of which is on the right. HN III 416. RBW 1221. Sydenham 632a. Very rare. Toned. Lightly struck and with some deposits, otherwise . Very fine.
