Description

MACEDON, Chalkidian League. Olynthos. Circa 432-348 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 14.49 g, 11 h), struck under the magistrate Archidamos, c. 364-361. Laureate head of Apollo to left, some strands of hair falling down the back of his neck. Rev. X-Α-Λ/ΚΙΔ/ΕΩΝ Kithara with six strings, between the upright handholds, E-ΠΙ A-ΡXΙΔΑ-MO-Υ in tiny letters. HGC 3.1, 499. Robinson-Clement 110 (A72/P93). SNG ANS 492-3. Perfectly centered and attractively toned; rich late Classical style. Extremely fine.
