Description

CELTIC, Central Europe. Vindelici. Late 3rd - early 2nd century BC. 1/24 Stater (Gold, 7.5 mm, 0.35 g, 2 h), "Januskopf I" type. Head of Janus with long hair ending in a triangle with a pellet in each corner; above, small pellet. Rev. Horse galloping to right; above, triangle with pellet in each corner. Flesche -. Kellner, Manching 62. Steffgen/Ziegaus, JNG XLIV, 1994, pl. 1, 7 ( same obverse die ). Extremely rare. Struck from worn dies as are most examples, otherwise, good very fine.
