KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 17.19 g, 4 h), struck under Seleukos I, Babylon, c. 311-305. Head of youthful Herakles in lion's skin headdress to right. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated to left on throne, holding eagle on his outstretched right hand and long scepter in his left; to left, monogram within wreath; below throne, MI. Price 3747. A high relief specimen, clear and well struck, with a most appealing reverse die. Good very fine.
