Julius Caesar, April-August 49 BC. Denarius (Silver, 19.5 mm, 3.56 g, 7 h), Military mint traveling with Caesar. CAESAR Elephant advancing right, trampling on horned serpent. Rev. Emblems of the pontificate: simpulum, aspergillum, securis, and apex. Crawford 443. Sydenham 1006. A well centered toned and sharp example, struck on a broad flan. Extremely fine.
