CAMPANIA. Neapolis . Circa 300 BC. Didrachm or nomos (Silver, 20 mm, 7.36 g, 7 h). Head of Parthenope to right; around, four dolphins. Rev. ΝΕΟΠΟΛΙΤΗΣ Man-headed bull to right; above, Nike; below, ΔΙ - ΘΕ. HN III 576. Sambon 456. SNG Paris 711. Nicely toned and attractive. Nearly extremely fine.
From the collection of W.F. Stoecklin, Amriswil, Switzerland, bought from Santamaria in Rome in the 1960s.
