Description

BAKTRIA, Greco-Baktrian Kingdom. Eukratides I, circa 170-145 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30.5 mm, 16.36 g, 12 h). BAΣIΛEYΣ MEΓAΣ / EYKPATIΔHΣ Draped bust of Eukratides I to right, wearing helmet adorned with bull's horn and ear; all within a fillet border. Rev. HΛIOKΛEOYΣ / KAI ΛAOΔIKHΣ Conjoined draped busts to right of Heliokles, bareheaded, and Laodike, wearing tainia; in field to left, monogram; all within a fillet border. Bopearachchi 13A. HGC 12, 133. SNG ANS -. Well-centered and nicely toned, with fine portraits. A few light scratches and minor porosity, otherwise, good very fine.

From the collection of a young Lady, Switzerland, and from a Swiss collection acquired in 1991.
