Description

THESSALY. Trikka. Circa 440-400 BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 17 mm, 3.02 g, 2 h). Youthful hero, Thessalos, nude but for cloak and petasos hanging over his shoulder, striding right, holding a band in both his hands around the head of the forepart of a bull moving right; E below bull’s head, V between the legs of Thessalos. Rev. ΤΡΙ-KKA Forepart of bridled horse with trailing reins to right; all within incuse square. BCD Thessaly I -. BCD Thessaly II 775.5 ( same obverse die, reverse with different legend arrangement ). HGC 4, 311. Lightly toned. Good very fine.
