Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 18 mm, 4.33 g, 11 h), struck under Lysimachos, Kolophon, circa 301/0-300/299. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left, holding eagle in his right hand and scepter in his left; in field to left, lion forepart left above Φ; below throne, pentagram. HGC 3, 1751d. Müller 357. Price 1840. Thompson 120. Clear and struck on a broad flan. Nearly extremely fine.
