Description

Philip II, as Caesar, 244-247. Sestertius (Bronze, 28 mm, 21.83 g, 11 h), Rome, 246. M IVL PHILIPPVS CAES Bare-headed and draped bust of Philip II to right. Rev. PRINCIPI IVVENT / S C Philip II, standing to left in military dress, holding globe in his right hand and reversed spear in his left. Cohen 49. RIC 256a. Banti 9. A lovely coin with a charming portrait, well struck and with a pleasing dark brown patina. faint adjustment marks on Philip's head and on the reverse, some smoothing, otherwise, good very fine.
