SYRIA, Seleucis and Pieria. Antioch. Time of Augustus, 27 BC-AD 14. (Bronze, 19 mm, 6.54 g, 12 h), struck under Publius Quinctillius Varus, Governor of Syria, 5/4 BC, year ZK = 27 of the Actian Era = 5/4 BC. Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. ΑΝΤΙΟΧΕΩΝ ΕΠΙ ΟΥΑΡΟΥ Tyche seated to right on rocky outcropping, holding palm branch; in field to right, ZK; at feet, half-length figure of river-god Orontes swimming to right. McAlee 87. RPC I 4252. Unusually fine details for type, well centered and among the finest known. Good very fine.
