LYDIA. Tralleis. Circa 166-67 BC. Cistophoric Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 12.54 g, 7 h), struck under the magistrate Ptol(emaios), c. 133 or slightly later. Cista mystica with half-open lid from which a serpent issues to the left; around, ivy wreath with fruits. Rev. Two snakes coiled around a bow case; above, ΠTOΛ; to left, TPAΛ; to right, Dionysos standing facing, holding long thyrsos with his right hand and grape bunch with the left. GRPC Lydia, S491.
