Description
ISLANDS OFF IONIA, Chios. Circa 380-350 BC. Drachm (Silver, 14.5 mm, 3.65 g, 3 h). Sphinx seated left; to left, grape bunch above amphora. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square with striated quarters and thick bands; ΕΠΑΙΝΕ on horizontal band. Cf. HGC 6, 112 ( magistrate not recorded ). SNG Copenhagen -. SNG von Aulock -. Very fine.
