Description

PHRYGIA, Sebaste. Nero, 54-68. Assarion (Bronze, 19mm, 5.95 g 1), Julius Dionysius, circa 55. CEBACTOC Bare-headed and draped bust of Nero to right. Rev. CΕ[ΒΑCΤΗΝΩΝ] ΙΟΥΛΙΟC ΔΙΟΝΥCΙΟC Zeus seated left on throne, holding an eagle in his right hand and a scepter in his left. RPC 3155. SNG Copenhagen 678-680. SNG von Aulock 3951. A most attractive piece with a dark patina, but with a slightly off-centered reverse. Extremely fine.
