Description

Divus Claudius, died 54. Denarius (Silver, 18mm, 3.56 g 7), Rome, October-December 54. DIVVS CLAVDIVS AVGVSTVS Laureate head of Claudius to left. Rev. Ornamental quadriga moving slowly to right, its sides decorated with figures of Victory and the emperor; above, miniature quadriga between two Victories; below, in exergue, EX S C. BMC 6. BN 3. Cohen 32. RIC 5. An attractive, toned example. Struck on a tight flan, otherwise , about extremely fine.
