Description

KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 33mm, 16.58 g 12), Mesembria, c. 175-125. Head of Herakles in lion skin headdress to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on high-backed throne, holding eagle in his right hand and long scepter in his left; to left, helmet above ΜΑ; below throne, ΚΟ. Price 1077. Toned and with an impressively well-centered obverse. Nearly extremely fine.
