Description

KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 16mm, 4.27 g 12), Teos, struck under Philip III, 323-319. Head of Herakles to right with lion skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on backless throne, holding eagle in his right hand and long scepter with his left; to left, palm branch with fillets; to right, spear-head upwards. Price 2260. Bright and attractive. Extremely fine.
