Description

KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26mm, 17.18 g 12), Damascus, c. 330-320. Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on ornamental throne, holding long, vertical scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right in his right; to left, forepart of a ram to right; below bottom strut of throne, [ΔΑ]. Price 3202. An attractive, toned piece. Good very fine.
