Description

BRUTTIUM, Kroton. Circa 425-350 BC. Stater (Silver, 21mm, 7.99 g 1). Eagle, with folded wings and head turned back to left, standing right on architrave with triglyph below (?); to right, goat’s skull. Rev. Ϙ ΡΟ Tripod with high neck and lion’s feet; to right, olive sprig. HN III 2147. SNG ANS 340 ( same dies ). A pleasant piece, nicely toned and bold. Nearly extremely fine.
