Description

CALABRIA, Tarentum. Circa 325-280 BC. Diobol (Silver, 12mm, 1.31 g 11). Head of Athena to right, wearing Attic helmet adorned with Skylla. Rev. Herakles kneeling to right, fighting the Nemean lion; to left, club; above to right, grasshopper. HN III 976. SNG Copenhagen 979. Vlasto 1327. A splendid example, very well centered and of the finest style. Good extremely fine.
