Description

CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 315-302 BC. Nomos (Silver, 21.5 mm, 7.61 g, 5 h), struck under the magistrates Sa... and So... ΣA Warrior on horseback galloping right, holding two spears and a shield with left hand, preparing to cast javelin held aloft in right. Rev. TAPAΣ Phalanthos, nude, holding kantharos in extended right hand and cradling trident in left arm, riding dolphin left; to left, Ω above arm, Σ below; below, small dolphin left. Fischer-Bossert 881 (V345/R684). HN III 937. Vlasto 611 ( same obverse die ). Well-centered. Surfaces a little rough, otherwise, good very fine.
