CELTIC BRITAIN. Belgae(?). Circa 60-20 BC. Stater (Gold, 16 mm, 6.13 g, 1 h), Chute (Durotrigan A/British B) type. Wreath pattern with crescents. Rev. Disjointed horse left; ‘crab’ below; above tail, elongated pellet within elliptical ornament, row of pellets, three tiny dots in line below; pellets around. ABC 746. SCBC 22. Van Arsdell 1205-7 (Durotriges). Well-struck and clear. Minor edge split at 5h, otherwise, very fine.

The authors of ABC draw attention to the fact that no examples of this type have been found in the territory of the Durotriges - the traditional identification - and instead are found in the region of Hampshire, which at the time was territory controlled by the Belgae.
