Description

Hadrian, 117-138. Sestertius (Orichalcum, 32 mm, 27.73 g, 6 h), Rome, circa 125-126/7. HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS Laureate bust of Hadrian to right, with slight drapery on his far shoulder. Rev. COS I I I /NEP - RED / S - C Neptune, nude but for drapery over his left leg, standing right, his left foot propped on a galley-prow, holding a trident with his right hand and an acrostolium with his left. Banti 552. BMC 1318. Cohen 980. RIC 807. Well-struck, a very attractive coin with a fine dark green patina and an excellent portrait of the emperor. Good very fine.
