CRETE. Lyttos. Circa 320-270 BC. Stater (Silver, 25 mm, 10.57 g, 1 h). Eagle with spread wings flying to right, holding a prey animal in its talons. Rev. ΛΥΤΤIO-N (retrograde) Head of boar with open jaws to left, all within incuse square bordered by dots. Le Rider p. 32, 221 and pl.VIII, 2 (same dies). Svoronos 58 and cf. pl. 22, 7 (same obverse die). Clear and toned. Struck from worn dies, with die breaks on the reverse and with a faint graffito (A) in the obverse field, otherwise, good very fine.
