Description

SICILY. Naxos. Circa 461-430 BC. Litra (Silver, 11 mm, 0.73 g, 6 h). Head of bearded Dionysos to right, wearing ivy wreath. Rev. Ν-Α /ΧΙ Bunch of grapes hanging from a vine branch with three leaves. Cahn, Naxos 63 (V46/R54). Campana 9a. Attractive and toned. Obverse very slightly double-struck, otherwise, about extremely fine.

From the collection of a retired prelate, acquired in the 1990s.
