Description

CAMPANIA. Capua. 216-211 BC. Biunx (Bronze, 24 mm, 11.75 g, 7 h). Laureate head of Zeus to right; two pellets ( mark of value ) behind his neck. Rev. kapu (in Oscan). Diana driving galloping biga to right; two stars ( mark of value ) on the upper field. HN III 488. SNG ANS 206. SNG Copenhagen 333. SNG Paris 498. Well-centered and with a fine dark green patina; unusually clear and well-struck for the type. Good very fine.

From the stock of an old Swiss dealer assembled mainly in the 1960s-1970s, and from the collection of the Vicomte de Sartiges, a duplicate from the Coin Cabinet in Berlin which was sold after the acquisition of the Löbbecke Collection, J. Hirsch XXVI, 23 May 1910, 3.
