CELTIC, Central Europe. Boii (?). Circa 2nd - 1st century BC. Stater (Gold, 18 mm, 8.03 g), "Vorstufen zum Muscheltyp". Irregular, smooth bulge, the remains of a completely degenerated head. Rev. Irregular, with bulge on one side. Cf. Kostial 48 and Paulsen pl. 14, 292ff, both with variations on the reverse. Very rare and unusual type for the Boii. Nearly extremely fine.
