Leo I, 457-474. Tremissis (Gold, 13 mm, 1.50 g, 5 h), Constantinople, c. 462 or 466. D N LEO PF (sic!) – RPET AVG Diademed, draped and cuirassed bust of Leo to right. Rev. VICTORIA AVGVSTORVM / CONOB Victory facing, her head to left, holding globus cruciger with her left hand and wreath with her right; in lower right field, star. Cf. Depeyrot 93/3 and RIC 611. An attractive and curious coin: the engraver must have misjudged his spacing and was unable to put an E after the P in the obverse legend; thus PFRPET instead of PERPET!!! This error is possibly unpublished. Slight roughness on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
