MYSIA. Kyzikos. Circa 500-450 BC. Stater (Electrum, 20 mm, 15.93 g). Winged mythological creature (with the body of a man and the head of a wolf-like animal with a boar's crest and tall, griffin-like ear) in the running-kneeling posture to left, his head to right, holding, in his left hand, a tunny by the tail. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. BMFA 1457. Greenwell 57. SNG Paris 271. SNG von Aulock 1198. Von Fritze 123. Warren 1471. Very rare and with an impressive and powerful super­natural creature on the obverse. Lightly toned. Good very fine.
