Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 17.18 g, 10 h), struck under Philip III, Tarsos, c. 323-317. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and, in his right, eagle standing right with closed wings; to left, Nike flying right bearing wreath; below Nike, kerykeion; below throne, monogram of ΕΠ. Price 3048. Struck on a broad flan with an obverse of lovely style, in high relief, and attractively toned. Minor marks, otherwise, extremely fine.
