Akanthos. Circa 478-465 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 17.22 g), c. 470. Lion to right, attacking bull, collapsing to left with head raised; above, to the left of the bull's horn, Θ; below bull, plinth of pellets between plain lines; in exergue, floral ornament. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square with granulated surfaces. Desneux 55 (same reverse die). SNG ANS 10. Tselekas, 150 (same reverse die). Lightly toned, attractive and well-struck on a particularly broad flan. Extremely fine.
