Syracuse. Fifth Democracy, 214-212 BC. 12 Litrai. Silver (24 mm, 10.16 g, 3h). Head of Athena to left, wearing crested Corinthian helmet with serpent on the bowl, pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. ΣΥΡΑΚΟΣΙΩΝ Artemis, wearing hunting dress, standing left, drawing her bow; at her feet, hunting dog leaping to left; in field to left, ΜΙ. Burnett, Enna, D11; SNG Copenhagen 877. Lightly toned, sharply struck and well-centered. Good extremely fine.

From the collection of a prominent English Termagant, acquired, after considerable argument, from CNG in the late 1990s (inventory number 90717).
