Description

Bruttium
Kroton. Circa 360 BC. Nomos (Silver, 21 mm, 8.00 g, 4 h). Head of Hera Lakinia three-quarters facing, turned slightly to the right, wearing stephane ornamented with palmettes. Rev. ΚΡΟΤΩΝΙΑΤΑΝ Youthful Herakles seated to left on a rock draped with his lion's skin, holding a one-handled cup in his right hand and resting his left on his club; below, bow. Basel 198. HN III 2167. SNG ANS 371. SNG Lloyd 616. SNG Oxford 1521-1522. Toned and of fine style. Minor marks, otherwise, extremely fine.
