Lucania
Metapontum. Circa 300-250 BC. Chalkous (Bronze, 17 mm, 4.62 g, 11 h). Bearded head of Leukippos to right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet with wolf (?) running right on the bowl. Rev. ΜΕΤΑ Demeter, draped, standing facing, holding long cross-torch with her right hand and resting her left on her hip. HN III 1702. Johnson 66. SNG ANS 561. SNG Copenhagen 1249. A particularly attractive example with a fine, light-brown patina. Extremely fine.
