Metapontum. Circa 330-290 BC. Nomos or Didrachm (Silver, 20 mm, 7.87 g, 5 h), struck under the magistrate Da.... Head of Demeter to left, wearing grain wreath, triple pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. ΜΕΤΑ Ear of barley with leaf to left; to left above leaf, rake with a long handle and curved tines; below leaf, ΔΑ. HN III 1582. Johnston Class C, 5.6 (same dies). SNG Lloyd 391 (same dies). Sharply struck and attractively toned. Extremely fine.
