A wonderful piece, of the very best Hellenistic style, undoubtedly the finest coin of Suessa Aurunca known. Beautifully toned and perfectly struck. Good extremely fine.

From a Swiss collection, ex Nomos 1, 6 May 2009, 4, Numismatica Genevensis SA 4, 11 December 2006, 7, and Bank Leu 42, 12 May 1987, 137.Suessa was a Latin colony, founded in 313 and is now the modern Sessa. There are only a few ancient ruins to be seen there, in fact, the most important remains of the ancient city are its coins, which this is very probably the best known.
