Treveri. Late 2nd century BC. Quarter Stater (Gold, 13 mm, 1.92 g, 12 h), "à la tête cornue" type. Highly celticized male head to right, with his hair rendered in the form of a ram's horn over his ear, and with a curved rope emerging from his mouth. Rev. Human-headed bull galloping to left; behind, "charioteer" leaning forwards to left; below, linear rectangle containing five pellets and bearing a wing on top. D & T 128 (same obverse die). Dembski 328 var (reverse symbol). Scheers 133. Very rare. Bold, attractive and toned. Minor marks, otherwise, good very fine.
