Description

THRACE. Byzantion. Circa 120-110 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 38 mm, 16.70 g, 11 h), Struck in the name and types of Lysimachos. Diademed head of Alexander III to right, wearing horn of Ammon behind his ear. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ Athena seated left on throne, holding Nike in her outstretched right hand and spear in her left; below throne, ΒΥ and ornamental trident; to left, monogram of AΦP. Callataÿ -. Muller -. Same obverse die as Obolos 8, (2017) 166. A rare variety struck on a broad flan. Good very fine.
