Gold PATTERN PROOF Five Guineas, 1777. Second young laureate bust right, with extra curls of hair, Latin legend with pellet stops surrounding, GEORGIVS. III. DEI. GRATIA. translates as “George III by the Grace of God” toothed border surrounding / Reverse struck “en medaille”: crowned quartered shield of arms, date either side of top crown, abbreviated Latin legend, .M. B. F. ET. H. REX. F. D. B. ET. L. D. S. R. I. A. T. ET. E. translates as “King of Great Britain, France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg, High Treasurer and Elector of the Holy Roman Empire” toothed border surrounding, edge plain. 42,63g.
