Description

Antoninus Pius, 138-161 Sestertius circa 158-159, Æ 30.5mm., 24.00g. Laureate head r. Rev. Male figure standing facing on low pedestal, head right, holding eagle-tipped sceptre and branch; all within arched distyle temple; crossed shields and trophy as acroteria; florettes along roof line. RIC 999. BMC 2053. C 332.

Light brown tone. Very Fine.

The temple depicted on the reverse is uncertain, but the attributes of the figure within suggest it is a statue of Genius Senatus or an Emperor as 'pacifer.'
