Syracuse. Tetradrachm circa 480-475, AR 17.07 g. Slow quadriga driven r. by charioteer holding kentron and reins; above, Nike flying r. to crown the horses. Rev. Head of Arethusa r., wearing pearl-diadem; around, four dolphins swimming clockwise. Weber 1560 (these dies). Boehringer 180 (V80/R124). Randazzo 348 (these dies).
Obverse struck from a worn die and insignificant traces of overstriking
on reverse, otherwise about extremely fine
