Description

Gela. Dilitron circa 406-405, AV 1.72 g. Rider on horse pacing r., wearing chiton, Phrygian helmet and boots, holding in r. hand reins and in l. spear. Rev. ΓΕΛΑΣ Forepart of man-headed bull (the river-god Gelas) r.; above, barley grain. Rizzo pl. XIX, 6 (these dies). AMB 292 (this coin). Jenkins 490.4 (this coin).
Of the highest rarity, only four specimens known of which only two are in private
hands. A very interesting issue perfectly struck and centred. Extremely fine
