AV 100 Drachmai, 1876A, Paris mint, Barre, mintage 76. ΓΕΩΡΓΙΟΣ Α! ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΤΩΝ ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ, bare head right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΟΝ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ, 100 ΔΡΑXΜΑΙ, crowned coat-of-arms, bee and anchor on either side (KM51; Divo 44; IV15; Fr. 13).
With only 76 coins struck, its impressive size and engraving, make it the key coin of the
Greek series Even though removed from jewellery, the coin still posseses
strong details and natural looking colours. The term ‘whizzed’
refers to the process jewellers use to polish their pieces.
