Calabria, Tarentum.   Nomos circa 340-335, AR 7.87 g. Horse standing r., crowned by rider and lifting front l. leg for boy kneeling r. to remove stone from hoof; in field r., Φ. Rev. ΤΑΡΑΣ Phalantos l., holding trident and shield, dismounting from dolphin; beneath, Π / waves. Vlasto 512 (these dies). SNG Copenhagen 701 (this obverse die). Fischer-Bossert 702a (this coin). Historia Numorum Italy 888.
Lovely light iridescent tone, minor traces of over-striking, otherwise about extremely fineδδδδδδEx J. Schulman 248, 1968, 5; Leu 2, 1972, 19; Leu 50, 1990, 26; Leu 61, 1995, 26 and Peus 403, 2011, 1 sales.
