Lucania, Heraclea. Nomos circa 360-320, AR 7.86 g. Head of Athena r., wearing crested helmet decorated with Scylla hurling stone; before head, EY. Rev. [ΗΡΑ – ΚΛ]ΗΙΩ[Ν] Heracles standing facing, trunk twisted r., strangling the Nemean lion; between his legs, jug. In l. field, [AΠΟΛ] and club. Work 46. McClean 431. Van Keuren 51 (these dies). Historia Numorum Italy 1378.
In superb condition for the issue. Unusually complete and with a lovely
old cabinet tone. Extremely fine / good extremely fine
