Nomos circa 315-300, AR 7.67 g. Horseman advancing r., holding a spear pointed downwards in his r. hand and two more spears and a round shield in his l. hand; below horse, ΣA. Rev. TAPAΣ Dolphin rider l., holding trident and cantharus; in l. field, Ω / Σ. Below, small dolphin l. Vlasto 614 and 616 (these dies). SNG ANS 1004 (these dies). Historia Numorum Italy 937. A coin of great beauty, undoubtedly one of the finest nomoi of Tarentum in private hands. Perfectly struck in high relief on a very large flan and with an enchanting old cabinet tone.
