Umayyad, lead seal or weight, uniface, with the name of Rawh | ibn Zinba‘ in two lines, 2.61g, cut across obverse, almost very fine and very rare. Rawh b. Zinba‘ was a member of an Arab tribe rooted in Palestine. He commanded a Palestinian contingent of the Umayyad forces who suppressed a rebellion in the Hijaz in 63h, and in the following year is said to have supported the claims of Marwan b. al-Hakam to the caliphate during. After Marwan’s death in 65h, Rawh became a key adviser to his son and successor, ‘Abd al-Malik b. Marwan, under whom he was also deputy governor of his native Palestine.
