Kings of Macedon, Philip II (359-336 BC), gold stater, Colophon, c. 323-317 BC, laureate head of Apollo right, rev., ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ, biga driven right; tripod below horses, 8.53g, die axis 12.00 (Le Rider p. 265 and pl. 90, 16; Thompson, Studia Paolo Naster Oblata, 1982, pl. 6, 12), one flat spot on top curl of hair of Apollo, otherwise sharp, good extremely fine and of fine style. Provenance: Bank Leu 36, 7 May 1985, lot 108.
