Egypt, Sultan’s Gold Medal for Egypt, 1801, Third Class, in approximately 20 carat gold, 41.5mm width, complete with original chain, hook suspension, and original segment of ribbon, about extremely fine for issue Frederick Adam served with the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards, at the rank of Captain, during the Egypt Campaign of 1801, under the command of Lieutenant-General Sir Ralph Abercromby. The Coldstream Guards played an important part during the landings at Aboukir Bay on 8 March, and again during the Capture of Alexandria on 1 September, 1801. For this service, he was awarded the Sultan’s Gold Medal for Egypt (and the approximate size of this award indicates a Third Class award).
